Today I ran the 2020 Social Distancing 6K - We're All In This Together, But Six Feet Apart. Mostly because it had a cool medal and t-shirt but also because it continues to help me hold myself accountable.
Medal pictures coming soon!

Another Virtual Race
A few things have happened since COVID-19. Well a lot has happened, but a few things regarding my running.
The Queen Bee has been postponed. It is now going to be run along with the Flying Pig Half. I had considered the Pig Half when my running was going so well (before the coronavirus) but I really don't like the course. I love the Queen Bee course but now it is going to be the Pig Half since they are pretty much the same race. I may sign up because I would run one half marathon and get all the swag for both of them. Might as well since I'm already registered for one of them.
Anyway, since I'm running the QB on the second weekend of October and the Fifty West Mile (which is a Flying Pig event) will be that weekend, I decided to run it now and run it virtually.
My time was pretty impressive so I was proud of that. I think it was actually less than 10:47 (10:18) but I forgot to turn off the app before I started walking. And it certainly felt like more than 131 calories.
And they are mailing me my shirt and medal.

And then there was the Coronavirus... Canceled Shamrock Shuffle 🍀 😞
My running was going well. And then there was the Coronavirus... and everything changed.
Right before the 2020 Shamrock Shuffle, things started closing. The day before packet pickup the race was canceled. It would have been my 8th consecutive year to run it. It is tradition for me since it was the first race I ever ran (in 2013).
Jody, Nick, Matt and Heather were all joining me. It was almost as disappointing as the time we missed Bockfest. Jody and Nick came to Ohio anyway and the three of us ran it virtually and submitted our times. We can pick up our shirts and medals next month, hopefully.
Then there was the change in the 2020 Queen Bee Half Marathon. I was so excited to have been brave enough to sign up this year. I love the course and race, held in October, and had plans to continue my training through the summer. Well, the Flying Pig (which I hadn't decided about yet but was considering the 10K) was postponed until October, the same weekend as the Queen Bee.
The plan is that the Queen Bee Half and the Flying Pig Half will be run at the same time, on the Pig course (which I'm not as fond of) but if you sign up for both you get both shirts, medals and bags. You also get a discount. So the decision is whether to sign up for the Pig Half and do both or defer my Queen Bee Half to 2021. I'm leaning toward the former.
Also the Fifty West Mile (formerly the Little Kings Mile), which is part of the beer series and the Flying Pig weekend, was switched to the Friday night before the Queen Bee. I am already signed up for it and decided to run it virtually.
Another event (not a race) I was looking forward to was the Reds Opening Day Parade. It was also postponed so I got up that day, put on my RedLegs Run shirt and ran in my neighborhood. It was the best I could do.
Needless to say, the Saturday morning Runs with MoJo and the Tuesday evening Pub Runs have both been canceled for the unforeseeable future. :(
So I'm just running on my own, social distancing (six feet from other runners and walkers) and hoping this doesn't last through the summer.

2020 Cincinnati Cyclones 5K
I ran with my friend Rachel from Mojo while Sonia and Cartoon walked (and ran some too). Rachel did the 10K and I wished I had done it too. But I'm happy with my results, my time and my place in my age group.

New Year and New Friends
I'm back to MoJo Running and loving it. I'm also running on Tuesdays with the Pub Run group.
I have made a new MoJo friend (need pictures soon!) who runs at about my pace and distance. She is also training for a half in the fall so it great for me.
The first Saturday in January I met her and ran with her. We traded contact information for Facebook.
The next Saturday it was supposed to be rainy and windy so I ran inside at the Rec with my friend from the Oxford Pub Run.
The next Saturday it poured so again I ran with my friend at the Rec.
The last Saturday Jody joined me back at MoJo and we ran with Rachel and met a few more girls in our same pace/distance group!
And as always, why didn't I remember to take pictures? I was having to much fun.

5K Thai Style
Well I didn't get to do the Thanksgiving Day race since I was in Thailand but I did get to do the Trat Thailand Change for Good 5K! What an experience!
Everyone wore their shirts, it was a sea of yellow. The bibs were a thick rubbery fabric. The food afterward was all Thai cuisine.
