I am a runner! I have been running for two years and I'm bragging about it. So my plan is to fill the year with races.
In March, I will start with the first leg of my Brew Hog Beer Series (part of the Flying Pig). BockFest is Saturday, March 7. The other two are the Little Kings Mile on Friday, May 1 and the Hudy 7K on Saturday, Sept. 19.
The next weekend, March 14, I will run my third Shamrock Shuffle in West Chester. This is a special race for me because it was my first 5K ever.
April 26 is the Red Brick Run. I didn't do this last year because of another commitment but I'm back and hoping for a brick award (if I can get my time down a little). Last year the first three in my age group were 07:59, 11:37 and 14:38. I could have been third with my current time. I would love an award.
I'd like to find a race in June or July to fill in the gap. I'll be on the lookout for something. Maybe the Rock n' Roll Chicago on Saturday, July 18 (the day before the marathon so maybe Jody would do it with me).
On August 8, (instead of May this year), I will run my third Red Legs Run.
The 2015 Ohio State Four-Miler will be held on Sunday, Oct. 25 at Ohio Stadium. I have wanted to do that for a couple years because of the cool medals. The Hot Chocolate 5K in Columbus on Sunday, Nov 15 is another one I'd love to do. The 15K has a candy bar medal so maybe (just maybe) I'll try that. Both of these are "maybe races" because I may go to Thailand in the fall.
If all goes well, I plan to return to the Thanksgiving 10K on Thanksgiving Day.
Yes, I am a runner! I run!!
Suzanne - google The BIX7 Road Race - held in Davenport, IA. Huge event attracting 20,000 runners each year on the scenic Mississippi. The date this year is July 25, and it is held in coordination with the Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Jazz Festival, featuring renowned Dixieland Bands from across the country. Very unique race and so enjoyable with the 5 day festival including a downtown Davenport Beerfest, arts & crafts and music everywhere, especially the daily outdoor concerts on the banks of the Mississippi. It is the biggest event of the summer so get your reservations in now if you are interested. It is only 2 1/2 hours from Jody in Chicago and 7 hours from you in Oxford. If I am back there by then, whoever comes with you - all of you stay with me!! It is SO much fun. Good luck with your goals this year! ~Karla
